Letters from God

Let God Do His Job

God already acknowledged that you need someone in your life, and as a result, He\’ll make someone available for you—to help you. It\’s not your job to make someone available for yourself. You don\’t have the expertise to handle this task.

Unfortunately, many of us still try to get someone for ourselves, and the result of our vain efforts is ending up with someone who gives us hell, instead of someone who\’d have given us help, had we allowed God to do His job.

Not only will God make someone available for you, He\’ll also pair you up with someone who\’s comparable to you, compatible with you, and who also complements you. This sounds reasonable since He said we shouldn\’t be unequally yoked.

He desires balance, which allows for compatibility, which facilitates partnership, which efficiently functions on agreement, which fosters oneness, which brings peace.

I once heard Dr. Creflo Dollar say that it is not so good for two people in a relationship to have the same personality. He reasoned that if this was the case, it\’s most likely they had the same weaknesses.

I guess to avoid this; God desires to give you someone comparable to you. Someone who comes-pair-able to you, someone who fits you, someone who icings your cake, someone who efficiently scratches your itch. This is necessary, so that you end up with someone who\’s strong where you\’re weak and weak where you\’re strong, and together, you cancel out each other\’s weaknesses.

In light of this, don\’t be surprised when God brings someone to you whose personality is not exactly like yours. If you\’re reserved, don\’t be surprised in getting hitched with someone who\’s flamboyant. If you\’re soft spoken, don\’t be surprised in getting someone who\’s outspoken.

So Adam gave names to all cattle, to the birds of the air, and to every beast of the field. But for Adam there was not found a helper comparable to him.
(Gen. 2:20)

Prior to this verse of scripture, we read that God said it was not good for man to be alone, and He would make him a helper comparable to him. Therefore, God already identified the fact that Adam needed somebody in his life.

And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, and he slept; and He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place.
(Gen. 2:21)

God caused Adam to fall into a deep sleep. Not just to sleep, but a deep sleep. It\’s like God is saying, \”I\’ll handle this, while you relax.\” It is interesting because, He allowed Adam to take care of the garden and its inhabitants but the making of the helper, God took upon Himself.

Why? Because He is the only one, that can do a thorough job of bringing you the right person. He is the guide to finding the right lover.

Be still, and know that I am God….
(Ps. 46:10)

God is saying you need to relax, and let him be in control. You need to calm down and stop being agitated and anxious about whom your marriage partner will be.

When you chill out and refrain from your anxiety which distracts you from perceiving God\’s move in your life, you\’ll be focused enough to trust God and allow Him to withdraw from His infinite repertoire as a means of bringing your heavenly mate to you.

Can you imagine Adam trying to direct God in making someone for him? Imagine Adam barely standing up and bent over beside God, holding the side of his body from which the rib came out, and which is now oozing out lots of blood.

While writhing in pain, envisage Adam having the moxie to bark instructions at God, telling our Maker that her bosom is too small, and he wants her eye color to be a blend of green, brown, sky blue, and grey.

Although God is slow to anger, merciful and of great kindness, visualize Adam tap dancing on God\’s nerves by insisting that Eve\’s hair be blonde, and other specifics about her outward appearance.

Of course God can give you someone who has testosterone driving physical attributes, however, our tendency—especially men\’s, to only focus on such, validates why we should let God bring someone to us. He\’s more interested in the spiritual than the superficial.

\”Then the rib which the Lord God had taken from man He made into a woman, and He brought her to the man\” (Gen. 2:22).

I hope you noticed that God brought her to the man, she did not bring herself to him—God did. Adam woke up and alas! There was Eve.

Let God bring him or her to you; don\’t take matters into your own hands. Adam was in a deep sleep when God took his rib out and used it to form Eve. Do you feel like Adam in a deep sleep sometimes when you\’re wondering about your heavenly mate?

Adam in a deep sleep could represent a very long interval of time in which it seems nothing is happening in regards to you getting someone in your life. It\’s been said that when you think God is not doing anything, that\’s when He\’s working the most. We know God is working hard on Adam; however, Adam in his dormant state doesn\’t.

I know it seems like God is not doing anything. But this is not true. He\’s working hard on your behalf. It\’s taking a while because God is trying to set you up with someone who\’s fearfully and wonderfully made. He\’s being meticulous in making the person he has for you.

He is preparing the individual for you. Be patient. He is trying to give you someone special. He is trying to amaze you, and make you react like Adam when he saw Eve. On seeing Eve, Adam said, \”she is bone of my bones flesh of my flesh.\”

Furthermore, God had to take Adam\’s rib out to form Eve. What does God have to do in you, and out of you, before He can bring the right person to you? You want God to bless you with His best, don\’t you?

Did you consider that the person God intends for you deserves His best too? Would you like to go out with you? Would you like to marry you? Would you like to live the rest of your life, or lay down the rest of your life for you? If you can\’t put up with you, why should anybody else?

You should strive to be like the person you\’re trying or should be trying to attract. What you should want is God\’s best. In order to receive God\’s best, it\’s meet for you to undergo God\’s test or His spiritual and physical examination.

Having done this, and allowed Him to make all the necessary adjustments in you, then, He can present you as His best to His best for you.
