Letters from God: Practice save sex

Practice Save Sex

\"bible-kjv-audio-book\"

by Adetokunbo Adeoye
I recall passing by the student commons situated in the heart of the urban arrangement of my alma mater, Virginia Commonwealth University, a few years ago.

While maneuvering myself through student traffic, two words from sentences displayed on a banner set up by a student organization, Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship, caught my attention. Those words have been implanted in my memory ever since. The words were, \”save sex.\”

I cracked a smile as the meaning of those words began to unfold in my thoughts. The relevance and significance of those words cannot be overemphasized. In essence, sex was to be saved—for marriage.

While you are single, save sex for the person you are going to marry—the right lover for you. This will save you from the heartache of giving yourself to the wrong person, at the wrong time, and in a wrong way—all of which cannot be protected by \”safe sex.\”

True love waits patiently. If you truly love someone, you\’d wait patiently for the person to be ready to marry you while God prepares you to be a suitable spouse for them. Also, you\’d practice \”save sex\” for the individual; you\’d save sex until you\’ve married the person.

You\’ve probably heard this before, but please allow me to recapitulate. Sex is for marriage, and having it outside marriage is sin; it\’s sexual immorality and God hates it.

Nevertheless, because of sexual immorality, let each man have his own wife, and let each woman have her own husband.
(1 Cor. 7:2)

Basically, this passage said that a man should have his own wife, and a woman should have her own husband in order to avoid sexual immorality.

Notice it did not say that a man should have a wife—it said his own wife, because a wife could be somebody else\’s wife. In the same token, it said a woman should have her own husband, becausea husband could be somebody else\’s husband.

Also, the scripture said that each man should get his own wife, and each woman should get her own husband. The verse did not say that a man should get his own husband and a woman should get her own wife.

The Bible is clear about sexual immorality, whether it is homosexuality or a heterosexual relationship between two people who are not married to each other.

\”What is the big deal about having sex before marriage?\” You may ask. \”After all, I\’m not hurting anybody.\”

Gentleman or lady, you are displeasing God; you are hurting yourself and the person you\’re fornicating with. And, you\’re hurting your chances of finding the right lover—God\’s best for you. God\’s best is the best person God desires to give you as a mate—a helpmeet—for you.

For this individual to be God\’s best, the person must be submitted to God.

God is not going to give you somebody who chose to obey Him when you chose not to!

Save sex for marriage and for your future spouse so you can achieve God\’s best in your marriage
